HYDERABAD: "The Congress has promised to treat PRP MLAs on par with those of the ruling party. Our MLAs will not be discriminated against henceforth. Their pleas for sanction of development works for their constituencies will be conceded immediately. We are satisfied with the assurances given by the Congress and we have decided to support the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the noconfidence motion against it," erstwhile PRP president Chiranjeevi said on Sunday.
After holding a meeting with his MLAs at his residence this evening, Chiranjeevi said he was keeping his promise that whenever the Congress government faced a threat, he was there to save it. "I am doing it now because the time has come," he said.Chiranjeevi said his 16 MLAs (excluding himself and Shobha Nagi Reddy who is in Jagan camp) told him that they were not getting what they deserved from the ruling Congress. The issue had become more of a selfrespect, Chiranjeevi said, adding that he took up the matter with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana, AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel. After the assurance from the Congress leaders, he decided to back the Kiran Kumar Reddy government.
