New Delhi: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will meet on Thursday in Bejing to discuss whether the relay should be restricted in the future only to the host country.
But there is no move to scrap this year's relay leading up to the Olympics in Beijing despite the protests that have taken place in London and Paris.
The IOC in fact has criticised the protestors for their actions.
"What we get concerned with is that people take advantage of a democratic environment to abuse good order and take it out on the Olympic torch. If people simply demonstrated to make their cause clear, that's one thing. But, for people to demonstrate to the extent where violence takes place and are arrested it's a complete abuse of our democratic right and that upsets us," an IOC official said.
