Boats, ships and fishermen have been asked to maintain a distance of 200 metres from Indian Navy warships.

New Delhi: Indian Navy on Tuesday issued an alert following intelligence input that a small boat or ship with explosive may attack Navy ships.

Based on intelligence inputs small boats, ships and fishermen have been asked to maintain a distance of 200 metres from Indian Navy warships.

Naval sources say that these are self protection measures initiated by warships in case of inputs of this nature.

The alert has been sent to the Commissioner of Fisheries, the Chairman of Mumbai Port Trust, Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Mumbai Police Commissioner, and the Principal Officer, Mercantile Marine Department.

The warning was issued by Western Naval Command, Mumbai.
