India, Pak begin third round of talks
India and Pakistan begin round three of the composite dialogue process. The foreign secretaries will discuss the issue of peace and security and Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi: India and Pakistan begin round three of the composite dialogue process on Tuesday. The foreign secretaries of both the countries began a new round of peace talks aimed at stronger trade and cultural ties.

The foreign secretaries will discuss the issue of peace and security, Jammu and Kashmir and all the six subjects under the composite dialogue.

In the first round, the two sides will review bilateral relations and the progress achieved in the past two rounds of the composite dialogue process. However, two countries have successfully completed two rounds of the dialogue process so far.

The issue of Jammu and Kashmir is likely to be taken up on Wednesday on the second day on the talks.

"It was agreed that we would have a discussion on Kashmir and simultaneously start resolving the less complicated issues. For instance, Sir Creek and Siachen. It appeared that we were moving towards that but now it seems that we have halted on that also," said Pakistan foreign secretary Riyaz Punjabi.

India and Pakistan back to the familiar blame game. India seeing a Pakistani hand in the terror in the Valley, Delhi and Bangalore, while Pakistan accuses India of sponsoring insurgency in Balochistan. Predictably both countries deny the charges.

"We should tell them to settle their own house in order at first. Let's have symmetrical autonomy on both sides. At the same time we can talk to our own people in Kashmir and form a consensus," said columnist and former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan G. Parthasarathy.
