I'm ready for West Indies: Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar has finally declared that he is fit and looking forward to the West Indies tour.

New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar has ended all speculation about his fitness and said he is fit and looking forward to the West Indies tour.

"I am fit now. I am looking forward to the West Indies tour," Tendulkar said at Subramanya, 70km from Mangalore.

He has been ruled out of the One-Day series against the Windies which gets underway on May 18.

He had undergone shoulder surgery in London last month after the Test series against England.

The Test series against West Indies starts on the June 2 and Tendulkar will be back to his batting drills this week.

Asked about the burn-out issue, the 33-year-old said "every player needs rest to re-energise himself."

To another question, he said performance and not age should be the criteria for selection.

Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah said that a decision on Tendulkar's availability will be made after physio John Gloster submits his medical report.

Gloster is expected to examine the star batsman later in the month and based on his report, BCCI would take a decision on the master batsman.
