VELLORE: North Zone Inspector General of Police (IG) C Sylendra Babu visited the scene of the bus accident at Kaveripakkam on Thursday and reconstructed the incident, explaining how the explosion would have happened.
Detailing the accident as reported earlier, Babu pointed out that the accident was purely because of the driver's fault. He also said that the driver Nagarajan was receiving medical care, after being remanded by the Walajahpet Court on Wednesday. The IG then had a similar sleeper bus from Ashok Leyland brought to the spot to demonstrate how the emergency exits would have failed. He explained how the berths must have jammed the exits in the crash after which the fire, reportedly caused by diesel leak, would have engulfed the airconditioned coach. He said that a detailed study was being conducted by investigation officers after which a report would be sent to the State Government.
