BANGALORE: The use of computer technology will become a regular feature in primary and secondary education as the state is likely to get a comprehensive Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Policy for Education this year.Speaking at the sidelines of a seminar on ICT in Education for Sustainable Development here, Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) director H S Ramarao said that a committee of experts had been formed to look into devising a framework for ICT Policy for Education in the state. “We have formed a committee of experts that includes educationists, technology experts and others from relevant fields to frame policies to introduce technology into education in a manner that is easy and affordable,” he said, adding that the committee is currently working out all modalities. Ramarao said that the committee was working on bringing out an independent e-content, the first by a government organisation. “Development of e-content was previously done by external agencies. We want to have our own content and that is what the committee is working on now. The final draft of the e-content will be submitted to the government for approval in 3-4 months,” he added, stating that he was hopeful on the government approving the draft.
