Iceland cop crowned Miss World
Iceland beauty beat 102 women from around the world. India's contestant Sindhura Gadde lost her way after reaching the semi-finals.

New Delhi: Miss Iceland Unnur Birna Vilhjalmsdottir wins Miss World 2005 beauty pageant in Sanya, the tropical beach resort in southern China.

Miss Mexico Dafne Molina Lona was declared the first runner-up and Miss Puerto Rico Ingrid Marie Rivera Santos the second the runner-up.

India's contestant Sindhura Gadde was among those short listed for the semi-finals.

"If I don't win the crown, I will move on. Sure, reputation is important. It's what people know about you. But, honor is more important. It's what you know about yourself. And, I am truly honored to be a part of Femina Miss India," she had said before the pageant.

Vilhjalmsdottir ? who beat 102 young women from around the world ? is a part-time police officer and wants to be a lawyer.

As part of the Miss World tradition, Vilhjalmsdottir is to serve as a goodwill ambassador and charity fund-raiser for children's causes through the next year.

The nine-member jury for coveted event consisted Miss World Chairperson Julia Morley and former winners.
