Spiritual beliefI usually maintain a diary. When I happen to be away from it and feel the urge to write something down, I start talking to God. It gives me a clear idea about the situation and helps me make better decisions. When you close your eyes, what appears in the mind won’t be the image of a God, but the questions and slowly, the answers.Understanding of godYou can’t share everything with everyone. You might have to hide certain things, even from your parents. But it is not the same when it comes to friends. I find God friendlier than anybody else. I tell Him everything and even demand favours. I have nicknames for them. I call Ganesha ‘Ganu’, Subramaniyan ‘Subbu’ and Shiva ‘Shiv’.Spiritual practiceI don’t recite shlokas before God. I don’t think you can appease God with them. For me, God is just a friend and I offer him what I promised, if my wishes are fulfilled. GodmenI don’t believe in godmen. But when my friends say that they believe in someone, I just say ‘fine’. If they find some solace from these people, I’m okay with it.Temples and pilgrimagesI regularly visit temples in and around my house in Bengaluru. On Mondays, I go to a Shiva temple and on Thursdays, I visit a Baba temple. But being a classical dancer, visiting the Lord Nataraja temple at Chidambaram is my long-time wish. In Bengaluru, there are no separate temples for the dancing idol. In fact, I want to dance at the temple there, but since I’m new to Tamil Nadu, I don’t know whom to approach.
