HYDERABAD: The Congress high command has managed to defuse the crisis caused by the removal of the subjects of medical education and 108, 104 services from DL Ravindra Reddy's portfolio and entrusting them to a new entrant into the cabinet, K Murali Mohan.
Ravindra Reddy, now in charge of only health and family welfare, was intent on quitting the cabinet. He arrived in Hyderabad from Kadapa on Wednesday morning and was closeted with PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana for over two hours. He is understood to have conveyed his feelings to the PCC President and wanted restoration of his earlier portfolio. Then the two leaders discussed the matter with the party high command which advised Ravindra Reddy against taking the extreme step of quitting the cabinet and asked him to bear with the inconvenience for some time to come. Reddy, who mellowed down a bit after speaking with the central leaders, deferred his decision of resigning.
