Chandigarh: Actor-director Puneet Issar today said that his soon-to-be released Hindi film 'I Am Singh' will also be made in English as its underlying theme is to clear the misconception outside the country regarding the true identity of Sikhs.

Issar said they would be aggressively promoting the film in the US, where some Sikhs have become victims of 'racist violence' in the aftermath of 9/11.

"The film focuses on Sikhs who became victims of racist violence in the aftermath of 9/11. There is a misconception in some countries including US and France that anyone who wears a turban belongs to Arab nations or Afghanistan. We want to show that Sikhs have their distinct identity," Issar told PTI here.

With the film slated for a December 2 release, the writer-director said he will be touring many US cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Fremont, New Jersey and Arizona to promote the film and spread its underlying message.

Issar is playing a Sikh character Fateh Singh in the film, who works with the Los Angeles Police Department. He said couple of actors from Canada and US also star in the film.

"We will also try to have film enter some international film festivals. I am also keen to make I Am Singh a movement so that it also inspires our youth," said the actor who made his directorial debut with Salman Khan starrer 'Garv' (2004).

The film's cast includes Gulzar Chahal, Mika Singh, Rizwan Haider, Tulip Singh and Brooke Johnston.

Singer-actor Mika Singh said that over the next few days, they will be touring Punjab including Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar.
