HYDERABAD: Task Force Police have raided a house located in the Old City and unearthed illegal firecrackers.Acting on a tip-off, Task Force police on Friday conducted raid on the house of one Dilip Kumar Agarwal at Rikabgunj, Charminar and unearthed illegal firecrackers in his house and seized crackers worth of Rs 5 lakh. Later, police arrested the accused Dilip Kumar Agarwal.  Ch Ramchander, deputy commissioner of police (Task Force) said Dilip Kumar Agarwal is native of Hyderabad.  In 2010, he started his firecrackers business during Diwali. He obtained licence to set up his stall at the Quli Qutub Shah stadium and used to store his good at his Rikabgunj premises. This year also, he obtained a licence to conduct his business at the Quli Qutub Shah Stadium. Based on last year’s business, he again wanted to do good business but was accorded licence for a limited quantity of firecrackers. With a view to earn good amount, he ordered for huge quantity of firecrackers and stored them in his house illegally.  Police said licence cannot be granted to store firecrackers in residential premises. Ramchander appealed to the public that if they notice any such illegal storage points of firecrackers in the residential localities, they should pass on the information to the nearest police station for taking necessary action.
