If one has the will to do something, there will always be a way to succeed. Take the example of this West Bengal woman who despite fighting all odds and poverty, kept expanding her knowledge. Even though she dropped out of college, she made sure to never stop learning, which finally paved the way for her to appear in the country’s one of the most-watched and popular shows, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).

Pushpanjali Lohar hails from the small village of Gangutia in West Bengal. From a very young age, she has fought poverty and overcome many hardships in her life. But she continued her education. She was just seven years old when her father passed away, which left her mother managing the household. Since her mother had no steady job, she was forced to cut grass and sell it to make a living.

It was with this meagre source of income that Pushpanjali continued her education. However, it was in the second year of college that her studies came to a halt. The reason was that her younger sister was also studying and her mother could barely afford the expenses of both the sister’s education. Pushpanjali decided to step up to manage the household along with her mother. She began tutoring children which helped her financially as well as helped her enhance her general knowledge.

She also watched Kaun Banega Crorepati regularly on TV to further expand her knowledge on other topics. She decided to participate in the Challenger Week contest of KBC but never imagined that she would get a call from Mumbai. Speaking of the experience she shared, “Since my childhood, I have participated in quiz competitions. I always enjoyed gathering general knowledge. I read newspapers, study general knowledge books and still do. I used to watch the show on TV and then I participated in one of the contests of the show. I went to Mumbai and saw Amitabh Bachchan in person and it feels like a dream.”

However, Pushpanjali did not get the opportunity to sit on the hot seat, which she deeply regrets. But this has motivated her to prepare once more for Kaun Banega Crorepati again and is determined to sit on the hot seat.
