New Delhi: Bollywood actress Kashmira Shah has bagged an award for the "Best Close Up" at a film festival in US for her home production 'My Bollywood Bride'.
The actress received the first-ever 'Frownie Award' for 'Best Close Up' at the Delray Beach Film Festival at Florida.
What makes the award for Kashmira commendable is the fact that it was created by the makers of legendary Frownies facial pads, a non-surgical face lift used by Hollywood film stars for decades.
"We're proud to be one of the first film festivals in the world to recognise actresses whose close-ups are truly a thing of natural beauty, or should be," Delray Beach Film Festival Director Michael Posner said at the awards ceremony at Florida.
"We give awards for everything else, so why not for 'Best Close-up?' While it might appear superficial, close-ups are a sensitive part of filmmaking," he said.
Jointly produced by Kashmira Shah, her husband Brad Listermann and US-based IT businessman Vivek Wadhwa, 'The Bollywood Bride', released last year, has Hollywood star Jason Lewis play the male lead and Kashmira herself as the female lead.
Directed by Rajeev Virani and starring Gulshan Grover and Sanjay Suri, the film is a comedy about a star-crossed lover who pursues his love - an Indian actress - to Mumbai.
The movie has been edited by Michael Trent, one of Steven Spielberg's top editors who has worked in movies like Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal.
Ever since its release in the US, the film has been getting rave reviews from several quarters in Hollywood.
"My Bollywood Bride" has been promoted at the American Film Market (AFM), the world's largest motion-picture trade event held in Santa Monica, California, every November in which major players from film and TV industries scout for content.
