Heavy rain claims 12 lives, over 2 lakh hectares of crops under water

Hyderabad: Heavy rains have claimed 12 lives in Andhra Pradesh due to incessant downpour in the state since Tuesday night.

With a low pressure area hovering over the Bay of Bengal, the state government has evacuated more than 4600 people, especially in coastal districts. Relief camps have also been set up with the Chief Minister putting all districts on alert for rescue as and when required.

2.49 lakh hectares of crops have been inundated with farmers bearing the brunt of heavy rain. MET dept has predicted heavy rains for another 48 hours.
