She was meditating at home in New York City when she went back to a memory from a past life, to a time when she lived in India. “I made a vow then to come back and serve India, even though the ‘Journey’ is unknown here,” says American author Brandon Bays, who was recently in the city to release her book, The Journey. The book is an extraordinary guide for healing one's life and setting oneself free. “Normally, I only go where my work is hugely known. But I felt this calling and I just, in total innocence, came here,” she says. Brandon, who was diagnosed with a “basketball-sized tumour” over 19 years ago, is the creator of the ‘Journey method’. “I was already a therapist, certified in many medical areas and psychology,” she recalls. “The Journey is my own journey, as I had to go beyond everything I knew. I was invited by my own soul to uncover means and get access to the cell memories to get rid of all the radicals,” explains the 58-year-old, summarising the gripping story of how she cured herself of the tumour through emotional healing.According to Brandon’s The Journey, each time a person suppresses an emotion, it releases a biochemical that blocks certain cell receptors. This process, eventually, prevents the cells from communicating with the rest of the body and over time, an illness is caused. “Which is why, when we feel our emotions openly and naturally, like a child does, our cell receptors remain open,” Brandon explains. What The Journey does is that it helps one get to the root cause of the emotions. “The Centre for Disease Control, the most powerful medical organisation in the world, has mentioned on its website that 85 per cent of all illnesses are emotion-based,” says Brandon. So, when a person uncovers old, repressed cell memories, like Brandon did in trying to cure herself, they get to tackle emotions at a deeper level and therefore, they are able to completely rid themselves of it. There is also no way for it to creep back into the minds, Brandon assures. “When you go into your soul and deal with an emotion, there is no way for the superficial emotions to return,” she says.It may seem like the plot of an outrageously far-fetched movie for someone to cure themselves of a cancerous tumour by just confronting repressed emotions. But Brandon claims she works with medical doctors and psychologists. “Some patient will be undergoing chemotherapy, his eyes will be closed and a nurse will take him through the Journey process, to get to the emotional root cause,” she informs. “The Journey method is also used by schools and governments,” she affirms. It is with the same confidence that she broaches the subject of cynics. People can see for themselves that it works, she says. “The journey is not ‘the’ way, but a way of healing. But it is not for a person of casual interest, it is for someone who wants to go on an authentic journey,” she warns. “It’s also about coming home to who you really are.”
