HYDERABAD: The High Court has fined a petitioner for indulging in vexatious litigation and delaying construction of a post office building at Amudalavalasa in Srikakulam district.Dismissing the petition filed in 2010, justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 towards costs on the petitioner for securing interim orders by misrepresenting the facts. After perusing the call records, the judge came to know that the land was acquired in 1995 and the land was handed over to the postal department for construction of a post office and staff quarters at Amudalavalasa. As for case details, the government had issued a notification to acquire a piece of land belonging to Ponnada Nageswara Rao and three others to construct a post office and staff quarters at Amudalavalasa.Revenue authorities took possession of the land in 1995.The petitioners represented to the MRO in 2004 for re-conveyance of their acquired lands on the ground that neither compensation was paid to them nor physical possession was taken from them. Then the MRO issued a memo to the mandal revenue inspector in September 2004 by asking him to conduct an enquiry and to submit a report on the issue. The petitioners, after waiting for about six years, approached the High Court in 2010.
