New Delhi: An Ahmedabad court will hear the bail plea of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt on Monday. He was arrested on September 30 in Gandhinagar on charges of fabricating evidence and wrongful confinement.
The arrest came after one of his juniors, KD Pant, alleged that Bhatt had forced him to file a false affidavit against Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
The junior officer also claimed that Bhatt forced him to file a false affidavit supporting his claim that he was present in the meeting where Modi allegedly asked police to go slow during the 2002 riots.
Bhatt got a reprieve on Saturday when a court rejected an application seeking his police remand and was sent to judicial custody.
Congress leaders Shaktisinh Gohil and Narhari Amin on Sunday visited Bhatt's family and extended their support and sympathies.
