BANGALORE: For the first time in three years, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda said he wanted to compliment Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for giving a patient hearing to his demands pertaining to developmental activities in Hassan district as well as giving spot instructions to the officers for quick implementation.
"I am happy and satisfied by the discussion during the twohour meeting with the CM, which was attended by most of the ministers and top officials led by Chief Secretary. In most of the cases, Yeddyurappa gave oral instructions to the officers. I only want that the orders must materialise," Gowda addressed the media after the meeting in Krishna, the chief minister's home office on Friday. Housing minister V Somanna, who is also the district incharge minister, while briefing the media said that Yeddyurappa has instructed the officers to take up all the works on priority basis and report to him directly about the progress. "The meeting was cordial and constructive. Gowda gave a lot of suggestions. I will monitor the progress of the activities," he added. Though Somanna was present when Gowda spoke to the media, he, however, briefed the reporters after Gowda left the venue. When asked why the works demanded by him were not taken up by the BJP government, Gowda said, "I do not want to talk about that now. The chief minister gave a patient hearing to my demands. The reasons for delay in the works was not on the agenda."

Gowda was accompanied by party legislators H D Revanna, Shivalinge Gowda and H K Kumaraswamy. Congress MLA A Manju was also present.
