BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has decided to create awareness among the people about government programmes and schemes of various departments through traditional groups of artistes. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the progress of the programme at a high-level meeting here on Saturday. The artistes are being organised at the district and the block levels under art and culture associations. While the district collector will be president of the district association, the BDOs will be in charge of the block level association. However, vice-presidents of the associations will have to be from among the artistes. The State Government has made a provision of ` 7.78 crore for implementation of the programme. Awareness will be created about MGNREGS, Right to Education Act, different schemes for education of girls, procurement of paddy and the public distribution system. Culture Minister Prafulla Samal, Development Commissioner RN Senapati and secretaries of departments attended.
