New Delhi: Google is keeping its word on not allowing non-individual accounts in the current format of its Google Plus social network. The company has removed some of the biggest company, brand and news profiles on Google Plus including that of IBNLive.com, Mashable and Ford.
Google had earlier asked businesses not to create Google+ profiles as the company was in the process of working on a business-specific feature.
In a Google+ post Christian Oestlien, Google+ product manager, said that Google will have an initial version of business profiles in the next few months. Some select businesses will get their profiles in the meanwhile so that Google can test how businesses interact with consumers.
"We will continue to disable business profiles using regular profiles," Oestlien said in his post and suggested that businesses should find a "a real person who is willing to represent your organisation on Google+ using a real profile as him-or-herself."
Businesses have always been early riders on new social media vehicles and Google's not having an option for business profiles right from the onset seems to be an oversight and now the company is attempting to make amends.
The suspended profiles now lead to an Error 404 (page not found) page.
Google's notification on to suspended Google Plus accounts says:
"Your profile is suspended
After reviewing your profile, we determined that some of the content (e.g. text, images, name) violates our Community Standards or our Names Policy. Please remember that we are currently limiting profiles to real people and will be launching a profile for businesses and other entities later this year.
If you believe that your profile has been suspended in error, or you have recently edited your profile to comply with our Community Standards or Names Policy please submit your profile for reconsideration. Your profile will be reviewed again and unblocked if it complies with our Community Standards."
It is not that Google has deleted the accounts, the administrators of the business accounts are still able to access their Google+ accounts but it is not available publicly and most of the features have been disabled.
