BANGALORE: India’s vigilante mechanisms would get a major boost as defence electronics major Bharat Electronics Limited confirmed that radars valued at over Rs 40,000 crore would be deployed by the armed forces over the next decade.Terming the last and the next five years as the “golden age for radars” in India, BEL Director I V Sarma said the radars would be inducted by the armed forces within next the next decade. He was speaking at the eighth International Radar Symposium India-2011(IRSI-2011), in the city, which also witnessed participation of global radar experts.Sharing some advancements in radar research, Director of Bangalore-based Electronics and Radar Development Establishment S Varadarajan, who delivered the R P Shenoy endowment lecture, spoke about “through wall imaging radar”, that is capable of detecting people behind multiple walls.He added that the Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar was being proposed to be fitted on the LCA-MK II.
