HYDERABAD: Thieves forced their way into a temple at Banjara Hills late on Tuesday night and decamped with gold and silver worth around Rs 5 lakh. The theft took place at the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple located at Road No 14, Banjara Hills.According to Banjara Hills police, thieves broke open the main door locks and also locks of an iron grill and another door leading to the main deity. Police said the temple priest, D Narahari Devaki Nandan lives in a room in the temple premises but he did not hear any noises during the night. Narahari came to know about the theft on Wednesday morning around 4.45 a.m when he woke up and was getting ready to start daily rituals.Police said silver ornaments weighing about 10 kg and a small gold ornament was stolen. Banjara Hills police registered a case and are investigating.
