The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation contractors who stalled all the developmental works, including jobs related to Conference of Parties (COP) for the last two days have decided to resume their duties with immediate effect.
The decision was taken after GHMC commissioner M T Krishna Babu assured action against executive engineer of the division 10, Mohan Singh, who allegedly manhandled one of the contractors M Nagesh in his Khairatabad office. The incident reportedly took place after Nagesh demanded his dues around Rs 16 lakh towards laying CC road.
In a meeting with the contractors association, here on Sunday, the commissioner took serious note of the incident. He assured the protesting contractors that action would be initiated against Mohan Singh soon after receiving the enquiry report. The commissioner asked the contracts to resume their work without any further delay. It was learnt that Mohan Singh was asked to go on leave. Speaking to Express, Krishna Babu said, “Zonal commissioner of central zone, Ronald Ross is conducting an enquiry into the incident and would submit the report in next couple of days. We cannot take action against the official based on suo moto; further course of action will be taken up only after receiving enquiry report.”
The commissioner further said, the contractors shouldn’t have resorted to blackmail by stalling the works and similar actions would not be tolerated in future.
