Even a week after the gas inferno hit Chala, taking a
toll of nineteen, the condition of four of the victims who sustained serious
burn injuries in the blast remained critical.Indulekha, 44, wife of Coastal police station SI, P Rajan who died on Saturday,
Kunhikrishnan, husband of Pushpalatha who succumbed to her injuries on Sunday,
and their son, Vineeth, 16, have been undergoing treatment at the Mangalore
hospital.Their condition is yet to be declared out of danger.Pramod, 41, son of Krishnan and Devi who were killed in the tragedy, is
undgergoing treatment at the Pariyaram Medical College hospital.
His condition too remained serious, according to the hospital sources.The body of Coastal police SI P Rajan,50, who died of burn injuries, was
cremated with official honours at Payyamblam here.Union Minister of State for Power, K C Venugopal, Members of parliament, K
Sudhakaran and M K Raghavan, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and DGP
Balasubramanian were among those who paid homage to the deceased police
official when his body was placed at the Police club here on Sunday.Meanwhile, the department of health services has initiated steps to offer
counselling service to relatives of the victims and those who are yet to be
free from the shock of the tragedy.The counselling would start in the coming days.
The authorities also have started taking measures to remove the debris of the
disaster.
