Gagangir Terror Attack: Terrorists Recently Returned From Pakistan, Carried Out Recce Before Shooting
The attack where terrorists, who recently returned from Pakistan, indiscriminately fired at and killed workers in Gagangir was a planned one.

Security agencies on Sunday said the terrorist attack where terrorists fired indiscriminately on people near the Z-Morh tunnel worksite was a planned one and involved a terrorist who had returned from Pakistan, who carried out a recce of the site before launching the attack.

The attack was orchestrated by terrorist group The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The group claimed responsibility for the killings.

They also said they have identified the two terrorists who were involved and said their names were – Hurera and Khubaib.

So far six people have died in the Gagangir terror attack and eleven people were injured. At least two among those killed are non-locals.

“This was a planned attack on workers with an idea of (causing) maximum casualties,” sources told CNN-News18.

“These two terrorists have done recce in advance, with all inlet and outlet of tunnels,” they further added. The tunnel being referred to here is the Z-Morh tunnel. The under construction tunnel is strategically important for defence.

The tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity to people and the Indian Army in Ladakh.

Heavy snowfall at Zojila often cuts off Ladakh from Kashmir. This disrupts the movement of forces, people and essential goods and services.

The sources said no new groups were involved and said the TRF carried out the killings.

“Hurera has come back from Pakistan and he is shuffling between Ganderbal and Harwan. Khubaib is also involved in the attack,” the sources said.
