BANGALORE: Two unidentified miscreants made a futile attempt to commit theft at an ATM counter in Chandramouleshwaranagara at Hunasemaranahalli in Yelahanka police station limits in the wee hours of Saturday.However, they had to be content with Rs 100 and a mobile phone which they robbed from the guard of the ATM counter of Kotak Mahindra Bank.According to the police, two unknown persons entered the center on the pretext of drawing money. The guard, Veerendra, was inside the counter and the miscreants tied his hands and gagged him. Later, they broke open the first door of the ATM machine with a pickaxe.As they were trying to open the next door, people started commuting in the area. Fearing that they would be caught, the miscreants dropped the idea and they snatched cash Rs 100 and a mobile phone from the guard and escaped. It is said that some passersby also tried to nab them, but in vain.Yelahanka police are investigating the case.
