New Delhi: Since the release of its first still on Twitter, Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Heroine’ is in the news. The film generated a lot of waves in the beginning as it was supposed to be Aishwarya Rai’s comeback film, but the director Madhur Bhandarkar opted for Kareena Kapoor when the news of Aishwarya’s pregnancy broke out.
‘Heroine’ is Madhur Bhandarkar’s most expensive film till date. A major chunk of the film’s budget has been spent on Kareena’s clothes in the film, so the audiences can hope for a spectacular film at least.
The film has a film heroine Mahi Arora at the helm of affairs. If reports are to be believed then Kareena will be seen in a never seen before sort of a role in ‘Heroine’. Her skills as an actor would be under scanner as she is required to bring out the complexities of a psychologically disturbed character.
Bhandarkar’s earlier film ‘Fashion’ was appreciated by the critics for its relatively realistic take on the world of fashion models. The director will be expected to churn out the realities of Mahi Arora’s world this time.
Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda have grown in stature in recent times; these two actors are constantly getting featured in big films and important roles. They will be seen alongside Kareena Kapoor in ‘Heroine’. Randeep Hooda is essaying the role of a cricketer in ‘Heroine’.
Similarly, Arjun Rampal is playing the role of a superstar. Normally, Hindi films showcase superstars as people with grey shades and large heart, but Bhandarkar hasn’t gone by the established conventions in the past, so he may come up with a new version of a film superstar this time.
The music of the film hasn’t become chartbusters despite ample promotion. Just one song ‘Halkat jawani’ is getting played on the FM radios and TV, however Kareena’s presence in the film is expected to bring in the initial footfalls.
Kareena Kapoor has maintained her position in Bollywood despite bad performances and films in the past, but this time a lot is on stake for her. If ‘Heroine’ flops then it will be a big jolt to her superstar status.
