Friday Release 'D-Day': Be prepared for a heavy dose of patriotism
Arjun Rampal, who will be seen in director Nikhil Advani's 'D-Day' as a RAW agent, lauds the director for attempting to make a first-of-its-kind action-thriller.

Arjun Rampal, who will be seen in director Nikhil Advani's 'D-Day' as a RAW agent, lauds the director for attempting to make a first-of-its-kind action-thriller.

"It was a very difficult film. No one has ever attempted such a thriller action film. To bring out so many emotions beautifully was a task and Nikhil has done a wonderful job. He is the hero of the film," said Rampal.

'D-Day', an espionage thriller, which also features Rishi Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Irrfan and Shruti Haasan, is releasing July 19.

Nikhil Advani, who roped in Rishi Kapoor to play a sinister slimy gangster in the espionage thriller, compares the actor's hunger for variety to a child's greed for toys.

"Rishi Kapoor is like that kid who is in a toy shop and wants everything he sees there. Rishi is like that right now. He is very, very excited. He wants to do every thing," said Advani.

Rishi, the charming chocolate hero of the 1980s, took a U-turn with his role as dreaded Rauf Lala in 'Agneepath'. The negative role earned him great appreciation from all corners and, since then, he is scouting for variety. He was last seen as a cop in 'Aurangzeb'.

Advani revealed that the 60-year-old actor sees his 30-year-old son as his only competitor in the industry.

"I think this is Rishi Kapoor's second innings. According to him the only person he is competing with is Ranbir Kapoor. He only wants to do challenging roles," said Advani.

Shruti Haasan plays a prostitute in 'D-Day' and has shot some bold scenes with Arjun Rampal in the film. She asserts that sensuality is a key element of her character, and says it hasn't been used just for titillation.

"I'm playing a prostitute in the film and sensuality is a key element. We've not done it for titillation or unnecessary scandalising. The character is like that," said Shruti.

"If you do it in a wrong way, then the audience and actors both don't like it as the conviction is lost. It's very much integral to the character (in the film). As an actor, I feel we get to express all the emotions, and sensuality is a part of human emotion so its very important," she added.
