New Delhi: It's time to bring out the record books for Formula 1 has a new champion. Jenson Button surprised not only himself but the whole world with a fifth place finish at the Brazilian GP after starting 14th on the grid. The finish was just enough for him to clinch the Formula 1 World Championship.

It was a dramatic start to the Brazilian grand prix with cars and car parts flying all over the track.

Kimi Raikonnen lost his front wing, Adrian Sutil's Force India and Toyota's Jarno trulli had a massive collision which also took out Fernando Alonso and Trulli almost came to blows with Sutil as they debated who was to blame.

Then the unfortunate Raikkonen was in the thick of it again, but then Hekki Kovaleinen's fuel hose got stuck and for a moment Raikkonen's car was on fire.

And in the melee championship leader Button moved up the leaderboard.

Pole position leader Ruebens Barrichello lost his lead after his pitstop and Mark Webber in his Red Bull did not look back as he drove an incident free race.

But the incidents continued. Kuzuki Nakajim had a horrific crash but was not hurt. Barrichello clawed his way back to third and it looked like the championship would be deiceded in Abu Dhabi, but then he had a puncture and his race was over and that meant Button was on course to be the champ.

Webber crossed the line for his second career win, but all eyes were on Jenson Button, champion of the world.

There were emotional scenes as his family celebrated and Button was over the moon, the man of the moment even as Webber uncorked the champagne along with second placed Robert Kubica.

Button took over from Lewis Hamilton. His win is a result of the hard fought battle that started with the Australian GP earlier this year. He has won a total of six Grand Prix's in his new Brawn car this season - that's 10 points for each win. He also bagged a second place finish at the Italian GP and a third place finish at the Chinese GP.
