Former President K R Narayanan, who had been hospitalised for pneumonia at the Indian Army R & R hospital died on Wednesday.

New Delhi:Former President K R Narayanan, who had been hospitalised for pneumonia, died on Wednesday. He was 85.

He was in a critical state, after being admitted to the Indian Army's Research and Referral Hospital in the Capital on October 29.

He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital with chest infection and was put on life support system.

His condition deteriorated and he slipped into a coma.

Doctors attending on him on Tuesday had said that Narayanan had come out of coma, but admitted that his condition was worsening.

Narayanan's body will be kept at 3 Tughlaq Road on Thursday.

He is likely to be cremated on Friday at Brar Square, Delhi Cantonment, with full state honours.

Narayanan was the 11th President of India between 1997 and 2002.
