The turf war between former Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief SS Yadav and the body's current chief MK Meena has turned ugly.
The former ACB chief, who is an additional commissioner of police, went on a rant against Delhi Police in the presence of MK Meena after being censured for carrying the ACB's FIR book.
Yadav was directed to follow the rules and hand over the FIR book to the SHO, which is when he lost his cool, and even threatened to commit suicide. The incident took place on Wednesday.
According to sources, Yadav claimed that he did not threaten to commit suicide, alleging that he was being unfairly targeted by Meena ever since he took charge of the ACB.
Yadav further said he feared that the FIR book would be taken out of the ACB, hence kept it with himself.
This comes amid an ongoing battle between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and L-G Najeeb Jung over Meena's appointment as ACB chief.
The Delhi government had recently contended that the Anti-Corruption Branch could register complaints only after a nod from its additional commissioner or the vigilance department's director or secretary.
The AAP government had said that in trap cases, the cases would be registered against those facing graft charges by ACB with the approval of the additional commissioner, who is SS Yadav at present.
After Jung named joint commissioner Meena as the new ACB chief, the AAP government had refused to accept the appointment, pointing that the anti-graft body had traditionally been headed by an additional commissioner.
