The film begins with a scope for a funny spoof but later becomes a mindless, irritating rom-com with nothing new to offer.
Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai is a story narrated by Rajesh Parekh (Riteish Deshmukh) about how his life is loveless saga. Since childhood Rajesh has been unlucky in love. He is an assistant director, but most often is invisible to everyone at work. He is accompanied by his loser friend Kaushal (Vishal Malhotra) who is obsessed with porn. The film revolves entirely in the film world, where Desh (Ruslaan Mumtaaz) is the hottest hunk (read actor) , every director’s wish and every girl’s dream. Rajesh is all ready to give-up his search for true love till he meets Natasha (Sonal Sehgal) who happens to be Desh’s sister. Rajesh falls heads over heels in love with Natasha but sadly is rejected. Upset and depressed with life, he cries out to God and suddenly someone falls into his arms.
Yes it’s the girl (read Alien) from Venus who has come to earth in search of love. Soon Tara (Jacqueline Fernandez) realises that Desh is the love of her life. Strategically she plans to get acquainted with Desh with the help of Rajesh. The rest is no different from any other love story.
The film fails to make you laugh and is filled with cheesy and heavy romantic lines borrowed from yesteryear films. Milap Zaveri’s directorial debut fails to impress. The first half had funny moments but towards the second half, the film gets agonizing.
Riteish Deshmukh can be the saving grace of the film but only if you are fond of him. Towards the second half of the film, it seems like Riteish was trying to imitate Shah Rukh from his romantic films. But he manages to get his comic timing right, couldn’t say so much about the romantic angle.
Jacqueline Fernandez looks great and talks shudh Hindi, coming from Venus makes that a little unbelievable. Vishal is OK, Ruslaan probably has the best showcase in his life, there could be no better platform for the actor, Sonal is cute, Satish Shah and Supriya Pilgaonkar who played Riteish’s parents are wasted.
All in all Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai is disappointing. The actors have done decently well but with no story and a poor script there is very little they can do.
Verdict: It’s not worth paying Rs.250 for a ticket.
Rating: Don’t bother
