KOCHI: Thousands of children marked their entry to the world of letters on Thursday, the ‘vijayadasami day’ at the functions organised by various socio-cultural organisations at temples, churches and educational institutes in the city and suburbs.The ‘vidyarambham’ at Dekshina Mookambika temple of North Paravoor, was led by the Travancore Devaswam board president Advocate Rajagopalan Nair. There were 25 gurus for initiating 6,000 children to the world of letters,” said Devaswam manager Sasikumar K.“The Vidyarambham rituals at Kaloor Pavakkulam temple was organised by the temple managing committee. More than 50 children took part at the vidyaranbaham invocation. Guruvayoor Keezhshanthi Keeyedam Raman Nambootiri led the rituals. The Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Amma Temple witnessed more than 1,500 children entering the world of letters on the auspicious day. Nine masters including temple chief priest Venkettan Emprantiri initiated the children to knowledge. The rituals were held at East Nada of the temple from 8.30 to 11.30 am. About 25 children participated in the Vidyrambham ritual at Ernakulam Tirumala Devaswam temple organised by Gowda Saraswath Brahmin community. Cutting across the religion, the St Antony’s church of Kaloor initiated more than 700 children from different religion to the the world of letters. The rituals started with the holy mass followed by vidyarambam lead by 9 priests.
