England name replacements for ODIs
Gareth Batty, Sajid Mahmood, Owais Shah and Vikram Solanki will take the place of Giles, Jones, Vaughan and Trescothick.

Mohali: England on Saturday named replacements after skipper Michael Vaughan, Marcus Trescothick and Simon Jones were all formally ruled out for the seven-match One-Day series against India starting on March 28.

Off-spinner Gareth Batty, seamer Sajid Mahmood and batsmen Owais Shah and Vikram Solanki will take the place of Ashley Giles, Simon Jones, Michael Vaughan and Marcus Trescothick, the England and Wales Cricket Board said in a statement.

Flintoff will continue to lead the side in Vaughan's absence.

Left-arm spinner Giles was yet to recover from a hip injury while Jones and Vaughan returned home before the Test series due to injuries.

Opening batsman Trescothick left the tour for personal reasons but will be available after the India tour.

Batty, Mahmood and Solanki are currently touring West Indies as part of the A team's tour to the Caribbean while Shah is already in India after being roped in as the replacement for Vaughan.

From the squad currently in India, Matthew Hoggard and Monty Panesar would return home at the end of the Test series.

The One-Dayers will be played in Delhi (March 28), Faridabad (March 31), Goa (April 3), Kochi (April 6), Guwahati (April 9), Jamshedpur (April 12) and Indore (April 15).
