Egypt's rare snowfall: Twitterati reacts with shock
Several Egyptians who saw snowfall for the first time shared pictures on Twitter.

A severe winter storm which hit the Middle East recently has blanketed much of the desert in snow. The storm, referred to as Alexa, which began on December 11, has resulted in significant snowfall in areas of Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Syria and the Palestinian territories. What's even more interesting is how cities like Cairo, which hadn't witnessed snow in the last 112 years, weren't prepared to deal with the problem which the storm brought.

Kian Chua took to Twitter to express his amazement. "Snow in Vietnam and Egypt. Creepy phenomena. I dont wanna imagine the freaky things that are yet to come our way," he had tweeted. One Cairo resident tweeted, "camel in the snow in Egypt. It's like a polar bear in the desert." Read on to know what people tweeted...
