BANGALORE: Expressing confidence that the Union government would confer special status on the Hyderabad-Karnataka (H-K) region by amending Article 371 of the Constitution, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that a resolution on the issue need not be passed in the state Assembly.   “The Assembly had passed a resolution urging the Centre to concede to their demand; there is no need for another resolution (on the issue),” he addressed the media here on Wednesday.   Gowda added that people of the H-K region had recently demonstrated their anguish with a bandh.   Informing that the Centre has would introduce the amendment in the upcoming Parliament session, he said: “All ministers representing the state in the Union Cabinet are cooperating with the state government.”‘BJP Misleading People on H-K’However, at a separate press meet, former minister and KPCC general secretary Basavaraj Raya Reddy squarely blamed the BJP for the delay in granting special status to the H-K region.   “The BJP is trying to mislead the people and trying to politicise the issue. It was only due to the efforts of Mallikarjun Kharge and N Dharam Singh has the Centre agreed to amend the Constitution,” he averred.    He pointed out that it was then Union home and deputy prime minister L K Advani who had turned down this demand when a delegation from the state had met him and apprised him about it.
