THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two more persons wanted in connection with the twin murder at Aramkal landed in police custody on Thursday. The police identified them as Prasanth, 24, of Sreenagar, Nettayam, and his brother Sreekanth, 21, the second and ninth accused in the case respectively. They had allegedly murdered Shyam, a wanted criminal, and Praveen on October 5 at Aramkal, near Karakulam. The police said that both had been evading arrest by frequently changing their hideouts. However, on Thursday, Nedumangad Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammed Shafi received a tip-off, following which they were arrested from Overbridge in the city around 4 pm. Their plan was to escape from the state. It was a dispute between Prasanth and murder victim Praveen over the sale of a bike that resulted in the murder. Prasanth had allegedly bludgeoned Praveen’s head with the crash guard of a motorcycle, following which the latter died, said the police. The police also recovered the weapons used by the accused to commit the crime from a ‘puramboke’ land opposite their house at Nettayam. They will be produced before the court on Friday. The police had earlier arrested two others, Manu and Shaji, on Sunday.
