THIRUANANTHAPURAM: Now it is official. The Kochi Metro Rail Project work will be entrusted to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The decision was taken at a meeting of the Kochi Metro Rail Board convened by the Chief Minister here on Wednesday.It was the first time that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has officially made it clear that the work will be assigned to DMRC. It was also decided to officially inform the DMRC about the decision. The Meeting also finalised the number of metro rail stations as 22, instead of the early decided 23. Metro Rail Managing Director Tom Jose informed the meeting that Cusat was assigned to carry out the feasibility study about the parking facilities for each station. A decision was also taken to speed up the land acquisition procedures. The Chief Minister directed that land acquisition should be done without any room for complaints and the land owners should be paid reasonable price.The meeting also evaluated preliminary works for the project. Director board members and Ministers Aryadan Muhammed, P K Kunhalikutty, K M Mani, V K Ebrahim Kunju, Kochi Mayor Tony Chammini and Eranakulam District Collector Sheik Pareeth were also present at the meeting.
