Director for dental college appointed

BANGALORE: Dr D R Prithviraj has been appointed as Dean cum Director of Government Dental College and Research Institution (GDCRI). An alumni of GDCRI, he obtained his BDS in 1979 and PG in 1993.“It is a matter of pride to return to my alma mater as Director after long years of service in the most backward areas in Raichur district. I will sincerely put my efforts to improve the institution,” he said.In the list of his priorities are development of hostel facilities. “We are depending on the hostel facilities in the medical block. I will work towards getting independent hostel facility for our students,” he said.He added that that the intake for PG course should increase. “As of now, the intake is 21. In private colleges, intake is up to 80. This difference is due to the lack of infrastructure. I will speak to the Medical Education minister S A Ramdas regarding this,” he said.Lastly, he said that GDCRI lacked a good patient approach. “I will look to involve other departments in solving the space constraints for patients,”  he said.
