Dense Fog Blankets North India; 55 Trains Late, 16 Cancelled
The Railway official said that 23 trains were rescheduled as the visibility dropped to 400 metres on Thursday.

New Delhi: Thousands of passengers were stranded on Thursday as 55 trains were delayed and 17 cancelled due to dense fog in parts of north India.

According to a Northern Railway official, the Mau-Anand Vihar Express was running 33 hours behind schedule, the Lichchvi Express was running 28 hours behind and the Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Garib Rath was 22 hours late.

The official also said that at least 13 trains running on Thursday were cancelled while four trains scheduled to depart on Friday were also cancelled.

Major trains cancelled on Thursday included New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Bhubaneshwar Duranto Express, Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Hyderabad Express, Manikpur-Nizamuddin UP Sampark Kranti, New Delhi-Islampur Magadh Express and New Delhi-Jay Nagar Swatantrata Senani Express.

Major trains cancelled on Friday included New Delhi-Puri Neelanchal Express, Haridwar-Una Himachal Link, Sitamarhi-Anand Vihar Terminal Lichhavi Express and Amritsar-Darbhanga Jannayak Express.

The official said that 23 trains were rescheduled as the visibility dropped to 400 metres on Thursday.

Meanwhile, according to the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which manages operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here, no flight was cancelled on Thursday.
