New Delhi: It’s been Delhi’s favourite hangout destination for ages, almost landscaped in history as a heritage.
And now amusement park Appu Ghar – which lost a portion of its land to DMRC for the Metro Rail project and has been on the verge of shutting shop – got a small breather sorts on Monday in Delhi High Court.
The court refused to give any direction on a plea by an advocates' body for eviction the amusement park to construct lawyers' chamber. The court said the matter has to be examined by the estate officer.
"We do not think the Court can issue direction to DDA for allotment of land," a division bench of Chief Justice M K Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Khanna observed.
The bench also asked Supreme Court Bar Association to approach the concerned estate officer for speeding up the hearing in the case.
"This is a matter for Estate Officer to examine and give a decision on and not for this Court to decide,” he said.
The court directed the estate officer to hear the matter under the Public Premises Act. The Centre has already decided not to renew the licence of the amusement park and alloted the land to the SCBA.
