New Delhi: After a school office was allegedly vandalised in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday summoned the state Police Commissioner BS Bassi and instructed him to take strict action against such attacks on the minorities.
Modi expressed his deep concern and anguish over the rising crime rate in the national capital. The Prime Minister also spoke to Union Home Secretary LC Goyal and asked him to pay special attention to the rising incidents of crime and vandalism.
According to the police, the office of the Holy Child Auxilium School was vandalised on Thursday night and around Rs 12,000 were stolen from the school's office.
Human Resource and Development Minister Smriti Irani, who is an alumna of Holy Child Auxilium, visited the school on Friday and promised all help.
Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi CM designate Arvind Kejriwal also condemned the attack. "I strongly condemn the attack on Holy Child Auxilium school. These kind of acts will not be tolerated," he tweeted.
The attack comes after series of cases of pre-election vandalism in churches across the national capital.
Recently, US President Barack Obama had also also criticised India for religious intolerance. His statement came in the wake of various church attacks happening in India.
