Delhi Police may transfer officers involved in Manoj Vashishth's alleged encounter

New Delhi: In the alleged encounter of suspected criminal Manoj Vashishth by police in a shootout in central Delhi, the police is contemplating transferring all officers involved in the case. A vigilance probe has been ordered on whether an extortion racket was being run.

The Special Investigation Team has been told to expedite the probe.

The victim's family met Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Tuesday morning. Delhi Police PRO Rajan Bhagat said, "The suspect's family wants a fair probe into the death. The suspect's family wants the officers to be transferred. The Delhi Police chief has said he will consider their demands."

The family has been claiming that encounter was staged.

Victim's brother Anil Vashishth said, "The Police chief assured us a fair, expeditious probe. The police is considering our request to transfer the officers. We will cremate Manoj's body."
