Delay in release good for our film: Ballary
Two extra months made 'Bheja Fry 2' look even better, says the director

While Bheja Fry 2 was originally supposed to release in April this year, director Sagar Ballary is happy that the film is instead now set to release in June - a good two months from the original date of release. Ballary, whose debut direction Bheja Fry was a runaway success, explains, "I am a superstitious man. Things are supposed to happen when they have to happen. It is as good as it gets."

The film, he points out, is definitely looking better than before. He says, "There were many reasons for the delay. We were not prepared fully. There were still some portions to be shot with Vinay (Pathak). Vinay's Chalo Dilli (with Lara Dutta) was going to release." With a pause he add, "We were also shooting on a cruise ship, near Singapore and the Bintan Islands (near Indonesia). We had to go around the place. We had to hire helicopters..."

It has been the buzz that while Bheja Fry was made on a shoe-string budget, Bheja Fry 2 required more cash pouring into the project. While the director skirts away from acknowledging the exact amount spent on making the movie, he says, "For Bheja Fry, we didn't pay the actors or the technicians. But it's unfair that they keep working without money. Much of the budget has been spent on the cruise ship and at the Bintan Resort, that added to the scenic value of the film."

Bheja Fry 2 stars Vinay Pathak, Kay Kay Menon, Suresh Menon, Amole Gupte, Minissha Lamba, Aditi Govitrikar and Rukhsaar.

Interestingly, Sagar tells IBNLive that he approached Amole Gupte to act in the film at the same time when the latter was working on his production, Stanley Ka Dabba. In fact, the actor's fee that Gupte received for Bheja Fry 2 was used for making Stanley... Ballary says, "I just loved Amole in Kaminey. My first AD had actully worked with him in Taare Zameen Par. I approached him and he asked me to pay him little money which he could put into his Staney Ka Dabba. He was with us in Bintan for 12 days and it was great fun."
