There are a lot of conspiracy theories making rounds about it. There are guesses being made, theories being propounded, and eyebrows being raised. The nation wants to know: Why does Chetan Bhagat have a number in his book titles?
Be it 'Five Point Someone', or 'One Night @ the Call Center'; 'The 3 Mistakes of My Life' or '2 States: The Story of My Marriage'; and even 'Revolution 2020' -- all the titles contain a figure. And now this -- 'Half Girlfriend'
Considering that most of his books have gone on to become best-sellers, we can speculate as to the reasons why he has numbers in his book titles.
Reason #1
He's really into numerology. He may visit a numerologist and consult him about his lucky title names, etc.
Reason #2
He's superstitious. After 'Five Point Someone' he realised that this was an easy life-hack.
Reason #3
His readers are attracted to book titles with numbers, and Chetan Bhagat knows it. Why ruin a good thing?
Reason #4
It is a result of a complicated filing system for his manuscripts. He went to IIT and IIM after all.
Reason #5
The numbers in his book titles is his modus operandi. That's how he rolls.
Reason #6
It's a coincidence. Naah, we are not buying that one.
If, like us, you are intrigued by this phenomenon, you might perhaps wonder why his non-fiction book, 'What India Wants' did not have a number. You might also argue about the fact that half is essentially not a complete number.
Will Chetan Bhagat's lucky formula work this time? Will 'Half Girlfriend' sweep the nation?
