BHUBANESWAR: Traffic along Cuttack-Puri National Highway 203 was thrown out of gear after a cyclist was run over by a truck near Kalpana Square on Sunday morning.Angry locals trooped to the road and resorted to a blockade by burning tyres. The traffic was affected as everything happened in a trice and before police could react.Trouble started when Gajendra Jena, a resident of Badagarh Majhi Sahi, was knocked down by a truck which was heading towards Laxmi Sagar area. After being hit, Jena fell off his cycle and was run over. He died on the spot but the truck driver managed to flee with the vehicle giving traffic police the slip. As soon as the news spread, angry locals took to the road demanding arrest of the driver. Tension eased after senior officials reached the spot and assured action.
