BANGALORE: A chain snatcher was nabbed in filmy style on Monday night. The accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar, 30, a resident of Kappinagowdana Doddi in Kanakapura. Vijay was fired on his left arm when he allegedly managed to flee the scene after grabbing a 100 gram gold chain of Anushya, a resident of Jayanagar.The Inspector of Jayanagar police station S K Umesh was the one who opened fire on the accused. “At about 8.30pm on Monday, there was a chain snatch incident in our jurisdiction. We had strengthened patrolling and were on rounds near Lakshman Rau Park. At that time, Anushya, whose home is next to the park, has stepped out of her home. The miscreant Vijay, who was waiting for the right time, grabbed her chain and managed to run,” Umesh told Express. Police tried to stop Vijay but he did not pay heed, and the inspector fired at him. The accused is hospitalised for treatment.
