Controversial Bishop granted study leave

PATHANAMTHITTA: The two-day Synod of the Mar Thoma Church held at Tiruvalla has replaced Euyakim Mar Coorilos, who faces complaints of personal misconduct in the court of law here, with Mathews Mar Makarios as the Episcopa of the Kottayam-Kochi diocese.The Synod has granted Mar Coorilos one-year study leave. Gregorios Mar Stephanios will be the new Episcopa of the Kunnamkulam-Malabar diocese. Thomas Mar Tithos will be the Episcopa of the Mumbai diocese.Thomas Mar Thimothios will be the new president of the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association, the organisation which conducts the annual Maramon Convention. Gregorios Mar Stephanios will be the president of the Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sangham.Rev P T Thomas will be the new sabha secretary of the Mar Thoma Church. Rev V T John will be the new clergy secretary and Varghese Mammen will be the new lay secretary and treasurer.
