KOCHI: In connection with the concluding session of the golden jubilee celebrations of Kerala Ayurveda Mandalam Committee, Ernakulam, 27 herbal saplings will be planted in front of the civil station, Kakkanad. The programme is organised by the committee in association with Kerala Staff Council. District Collector, P I Sheikh Pareeth will inaugurate the function on Friday.The officials born under ‘ashwati nakshatram’ will plant the herbal plants.District Collector, Additional District Magistrate, District Planning Officer, Assistant Development Commisioner and Deputy Director Panchayat, will plant the saplings.  These saplings will be planted along the fringes of the road in front of the new B2 block at collectorate.Padmanabhan Vaidyar, chairman, Kerala Ayurveda Committee, Ernakulam  who is the main driving force behind this effort said “We had started this programme to plant trees during last Onam. During last one year, we have planted trees in 88 villages. The programme will conclude on Friday. We have also made arrangements to maintain the proposed herbal garden at collectorate.”He added that expenses in this regard, will be met by the Kerala Ayurveda Mandalam Committee, Ernakulam. Kanjram, Nelli, Athi, Njaval, Muringa, Kadambu, Plaasu Peral, Karingali, Ilanji etc will be planted at the civil station premises.An exhibition of Dasa pushpam flowers and free distribution of herbal plants will also be organised on the occasion.
